The cottage sits in a secluded, very quiet area of outstanding beauty and surrounded by wildlife and birds, with spectacular views of Loch Caroy and the surrounding hills.
Crofters Cottage is a traditional built stone cottage with artificial thatch on the roof and equipped with modern amenities within.
A 1 bedroom property which is ideal for couples.
Comfortable living room with log burning stove (small amount of wood provided), a selection of books board games and dvd's.
Having our own spring water supply means that we don't have to use the mains supply and our guests can enjoy drinking fresh Skye water without any added chemicals.
Bikes and fishing rods are stored in the garden shed for your use during your stay.
Please note that mobile phone coverage within the cottage is not good, you may pick up a signal out with the cottage.
The cottage is rated 5* with Visit Scotland.
We are a local family and purchased the cottage in September 2016. We live within 10 minutes from the cottage, which makes it very useful should guests require any assistance with anything.
The nearest village to the cottage is in Dunvegan which takes approx 10 minutes to drive to. There you will find the world famous Dunvegan Castle, a Post Office, Filling Station, a small grocery shop, Fruit & Veg shop, Skye's Oldest Bakery, various places to eat. The town of Portree is approx 40 minutes away where you will find a variety of shops and places to eat. The cottage is situated in an ideal place to explore the island.
The cottage has underfloor heating throughout – lovely and cosy on bare feet!
A welcome pack is provided for your arrival.
In the shed at the rear of the property, you'll find bikes, fishing rods and a barbecue. The shed is also an ideal place to store luggage after you unpack or to store your walking or climbing equipment.
There is a picnic bench outside to enjoy the spectacular views, and should you decide to picnic, there are a range of picnic essentials inside the cottage, even a flask if needed.
The comfortable sofa, soft furnishings and fuel burning stove will ensure a cosy night relaxing after a day's activities. A small amount of kindling and logs are provided. Freeview television is connected and there is a selection of DVD's for you to enjoy. There is an assortment of books, games and CD's.
WIFI is available for those who would like to keep in touch with the big, wide world!
The kitchen is well equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, tumble-dryer, built in cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave.
In the cupboards you will find everything you need, if you would prefer to cook for yourselves.
The water is from an underground well and will be the finest water you can drink! Free of chemicals and taken straight from source, it is the ideal accompaniment to a dram!
The sumptuous bed has been dressed with the finest linen. The perfect place to relax or read after a days' walking. There is a flat screen television with Freeview, hairdryer and safe-box within the room.
The bathroom is spacious and luxurious! Every detail has been thought of and it boasts a large free standing bath and separate shower cubicle. Luxury towels and dressing gowns are provided.
We are blessed with an abundance of wildlife locally, so as an alternative to driving further afield, we've provided bikes which can be used to cycle the near-by 6 mile forestry track. Here you'll have every chance of seeing Eagles, Buzzards and Deer along with a host of flora and fauna. Down on the shoreline otters are common as well as a large variety of coastal bird life.
At the cottage we've also provided fishing rods and a BBQ.
